Principal Accountant
Job Description
UNITY is partnering with a global energy company in North Houston that is seeking to add a Principal Accountant to their financial consolidations and reporting team. The ideal candidate will have a CPA, or parts passed and a foundation in Big4 public accounting. This role offers a dynamic working environment, strong leadership exposure and opportunities for long-term career growth.

- Prepare and manage the monthly and quarterly consolidated cash flow statements, including supporting analysis and reconciliations
- Compile and distribute financial reporting packages to leadership, highlighting key variances and business insights
- Maintain financial consolidation tools and ensure system data remains consistent and accurate throughout reporting cycles
- Support quarter-end close tasks including external financial reporting, earnings-related deliverables, and internal presentations
- Conduct reviews of team deliverables to ensure accuracy, providing guidance and mentorship where needed
- Actively contributes to ongoing process enhancement initiatives, including ERP upgrades and reporting automation projects
- Liaise with cross-functional teams to resolve reporting discrepancies and support audit requests
- Assist with various internal and external reporting requirements, including governmental surveys
- Develop working knowledge of internal control frameworks and contribute to compliance efforts
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting; CPA designation or active progress toward certification preferred
- 5+ years of relevant experience in corporate accounting or reporting roles
- Strong analytical and organizational skills; able to synthesize complex data and communicate effectively
- Familiarity with cash flow reporting, GAAP, and internal control principles; SOX experience a plus
- Working knowledge of SAP/S4HANA, Hyperion, or other enterprise systems is advantageous
- Demonstrated initiative and interest in mentoring others or growing into a leadership role
