Unity is searching for a highly detail-oriented and analytical Project Accountant for a global, privately held client located in north Houston. This position will be responsible for providing critical financial analysis on project budgets, profitability, and cost-efficiency. This role will support our leadership and project teams, helping them make informed decisions to optimize project execution and financial outcomes. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in financial analysis, forecasting, and reporting, with a keen eye for detail and translating complex data into clear, actionable recommendations. 

Key Responsibilities

Project Financial Management

• Manage and track project budgets, ensuring all costs are accurately allocated.

• Develop and maintain financial models to forecast project costs and revenue.

• Conduct regular financial analysis of project performance, identifying potential risks and opportunities.

Data-Driven Insights & Reporting

• Design and create dashboards and reports that provide real-time visibility into project financial health for stakeholders.

• Translate complex financial data into clear, concise presentations for project managers and senior leadership.

• Regularly analyze project performance against baselines and historical data to identify areas for operational efficiency and cost savings.

Financial Reporting and Analysis

• Generate and present financial reports on project profitability, cash flow, and key performance indicators (KPIs).

• Analyze project data to provide actionable insights that help improve future project profitability.

• Ensure compliance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP) and internal financial controls.

Collaboration and Communication

• Work closely with project managers, sales, and senior leadership to ensure a clear understanding of project finances.

• Serve as the primary point of contact for all project-related financial inquiries.

• Assist in project audits and provide necessary documentation.

Process Improvement

• Identify and implement opportunities to improve project accounting processes and systems.

• Assist with the implementation and optimization of accounting software and project management tools

Other Skills & Abilities

• Experience in the transportation, logistics, or supply chain industry.

• Professional certification (e.g., CPA, CMA, CIA).

• Strong Microsoft Excel skills

• Knowledge of and experience with project management methodologies

Education & Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, Accounting, or a related field.

• 3+ years of progressive experience in project accounting or a similar role.

• Proven experience with project-based accounting, budgeting, and financial analysis.

• Strong understanding of GAAP and project accounting principles.

• Proficiency with enterprise accounting software (e.g., Sage, TMF, Power BI) and project management tools.

• Excellent analytical, organizational, communication, and problem-solving skills.
