Controller
Job Description
Unity has engaged with a privately held, Houston-based, HSE Construction client to assist in its search for a Controller. This position will lead the day-to-day financial operations and be responsible for organizing, maintaining, and directing all accounting activities which include financial reporting & analysis, cost accounting, financial records, inventory accounting, AP, AR and payroll. This is a "hands on" position and sits on-site at their headquarter office located in east Houston.

- Manages professional level accounting functions and the preparation of reports including profitability, working capital, and balance sheet accounting. Prepare monthly, quarterly, and year-end financial statements.
- Develops and maintains a system of financial controls and reporting for the entire project accounting process to include monitoring and reporting of the project budget and job costing.
- Evaluates the finance structure and team plan for continual improvement of the efficiency and effectiveness of the group, as well as providing individuals with professional and personal growth opportunities (where possible).
- Actively assesses and builds competencies and strength in the finance organization.
- Plan, develop, organize, implement, direct, evaluate the organization's fiscal function and performance by identifying and tracking KPI's in support of the company goals.
- Directs preparation of budgets and financial forecasts.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance (CPA or CMA certification a plus)
- Strong general ledger, accounts payable, payroll skills.
- 5+ years’ experience in a construction accounting setting with job costing experience.
- ERP experience in NetSuite
- Strong business partnering and communication skills
