Group Controller
Job Description
Unity is currently seeking a Group Controller for a multi-entity investment group located in north Houston to oversee accounting, financial reporting, and financial controls. This diverse portfolio includes an entertainment production company, real estate holdings, nonprofit organization, and emerging ventures in fitness, hospitality, and events.
This role will manage day-to-day accounting operations, financial reporting, event and production accounting, and support ownership with financial analysis related to new ventures and investments. The position offers a unique opportunity to work across multiple industries in a dynamic, entrepreneurial environment.
Key Responsibilities
• Oversee accounting operations across multiple entities including GL, AP, reconciliations, and month-end close
• Prepare financial statements and management reporting for internal leadership and banking requirements
• Manage event and production accounting, including show budgets, ticketing revenue, venue settlements, and profitability analysis
• Oversee payroll and contractor payment processes for artists, crew, and operating staff
• Support tax, regulatory, and nonprofit compliance, including coordination with external CPA firms
• Maintain accounting for real estate holdings and property operations, including capital expenditures and property reporting
• Support ownership with financial modeling, investment analysis, and new venture evaluation
• Manage cash flow, banking relationships, and financing documentation
• Maintain internal controls and intercompany accounting across affiliated entities
Qualifications
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (CPA preferred)
• 10–12+ years of progressive accounting or finance experience
• Experience managing multi-entity accounting environments
• Background in entertainment, events, hospitality, real estate, or project-based industries is a plus
• Strong financial reporting, reconciliation, and analytical skills
• Advanced Excel and accounting systems experience (QuickBooks preferred)
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands-on Controller or Assistant Controller who enjoys working in a fast-moving environment supporting multiple businesses and innovative ventures.
