Our Plano client is seeking an experienced Senior Accountant to join their accounting team on a contract basis. This is an excellent opportunity for an accounting professional who enjoys rolling up their sleeves, hitting the ground running, and making an immediate impact.

The ideal candidate is a strong analytical accountant with a solid understanding of GAAP and experience supporting the month-end close process. This team is looking for someone who can quickly step in, work independently, and help keep the accounting function running smoothly.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and post journal entries, accruals, and other month-end close entries
• Perform month-end close activities and ensure timely, accurate financial reporting
• Reconcile general ledger accounts and investigate variances
• Prepare balance sheet reconciliations and maintain supporting schedules
• Assist with the preparation of monthly financial statements and reporting packages
• Analyze financial results and explain fluctuations between reporting periods
• Support internal and external audits by preparing schedules and responding to audit requests
• Ensure compliance with GAAP and company accounting policies and procedures
• Identify opportunities to improve accounting processes and internal controls
• Partner with operations and other cross-functional teams to resolve accounting issues
• Assist with ad hoc reporting and special projects as needed

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance
• 5+ years of accounting experience in a Senior Accountant role
• Strong understanding of GAAP and general ledger accounting
• Experience with month-end close, journal entries, reconciliations, accruals, and financial statement preparation
• Strong analytical, problem-solving, and organizational skills
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to prioritize multiple deadlines
• Advanced Microsoft Excel skills
• Experience with ERP systems such as NetSuite, Oracle, SAP, Microsoft Dynamics, or similar
