Job Description

Unity has partnered with a global, multi-billion dollar, privately held client located in north Houston. We are seeking a detail-oriented Senior Accountant to join the corporate finance operations team. This role is responsible for preparing and analyzing general ledger entries, supporting the monthly close process, and producing financial statements in accordance with GAAP. This position conducts variance and trend analyses, reviews and approves transactions within established limits, and investigates and resolves accounting discrepancies. The role also supports accounting leadership by improving processes, ensuring compliance with internal controls, and providing clear financial insights to management.

Key Responsibilities

Gather and analyze financial information to prepare entries to accounts, such as general ledger accounts, documenting business transactions.
Conduct statistical analyses to determine trends, estimates and significant changes
Analyze financial information detailing assets, liabilities and capital, and prepares balance sheet, profit and loss statement and other reports to summarize and interpret current and projected company financial position for other managers.
Ascertain proper handling of financial transactions and approve transactions within designated limits.
Monitor compliance with generally accepted accounting principles and company procedures.
Review, investigate and correct errors and inconsistencies in financial entries, documents and reports.
Responsible for assisting in the monthly close process

Education and Work Experience

BBA/ BA degree in accounting is required. Master's degree preferred
Certified Public Accountant (CPA) required.
5 plus years of public or industry accounting experience required.

Job Requirements

• A 4-year college degree in accounting is required. Master's degree preferred • Certified Public Accountant (CPA) • 5 or more years accounting or industry accounting experience required (US GAAP, GL, Reconciliations, Strong Excel Skills)
