Interim Head of Tax
Job Description
We are partnering with a fast-growing, consumer-focused technology company. This organization is experiencing rapid expansion in the U.S. and globally, offering a dynamic and collaborative environment. This is a unique opportunity to join a high-growth, mission-driven company where your tax expertise will directly impact operational efficiency, compliance, and strategic business decisions.
The Interim Head of Tax will provide leadership and operational oversight for the company’s tax function during the interim assignment. This role is responsible for managing a team of tax professionals while supporting high-level projects across direct and indirect tax, cross-border compliance, and corporate restructuring initiatives. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, operationally focused, and experienced in complex corporate tax matters.

The Interim Head of Tax will provide leadership and operational oversight for the company’s tax function during the interim assignment. This role is responsible for managing a team of tax professionals while supporting high-level projects across direct and indirect tax, cross-border compliance, and corporate restructuring initiatives. The ideal candidate will be hands-on, operationally focused, and experienced in complex corporate tax matters.
Attributes:
- Oversee all U.S. and cross-border corporate tax activities, including direct and indirect tax compliance, quarterly provisions, and annual filings.
- Lead, mentor, and develop tax team members across direct, indirect, and strategic tax functions.
- Act as a bridge between tax advisors and internal teams to ensure timely and accurate compliance and reporting.
- Identify and implement process improvements, automations, and best practices to enhance efficiency and scalability.
- Bachelor’s degree in accounting, CPA or advanced tax credentials preferred.
- Proven experience managing and mentoring a small tax team.
- Experience with tax software implementations and ERP integrations (Avalara, NetSuite, or similar preferred).
- Strong project management, analytical, and problem-solving skills.
- Fully remote, flexible working arrangement.
- Exposure to high-impact corporate projects and strategic initiatives.
